Make any celebration better with these festive gold champagne jello shots! These have a touch of gold sugar and have a very mild and smooth flavor.

Why this recipe works

Jello shots are usually made with hard liquor and can be those overly sweet jello flavors like blue raspberry or grape. These champagne jello shots actually have no jello powder in them. Instead, they are made with champagne, gelatine packets, and simple syrup! They have a beautiful champagne color and are a perfect party starter.

How to make Champagne Jello Shots

Ingredients

  • Champagne – Use your favorite or whatever is on sale. We like this Barefoot Moscato or even have used LaMarca Prosecco!
  • Gelatine Packets – I find Knorr gelatine near the sugars on the baking goods aisle.
  • Simple Syrup – Find this near the alcohol mixers (near the margarita mix on the soda aisle).
  • Gold Sanding Sugar – This is fine sugar sprinkles which looks like glitter! You can find it on the baking aisle of craft stores.

Step-by-Step Directions

Step One – Place a 1/2 cup of champagne in the microwave-safe measuring cup and heat for 1 minute or until hot. Note that the microwave can make liquids hotter than boiling without actually boiling, so don’t burn yourself.

Step Two – Add the gelatin and whisk until no lumps remain. If lumps remain, remove them from the mixture.

Step Three – Add the remaining champagne and simple syrup to the mixture and stir.

Step Four – Line up your shot cups on a plate or moveable flat surface. You will be moving these into the fridge. There will be lots of bubbles at the top. To prevent getting that into the shots, Use an injector or baking syringe, fill the shot cups to be about 3/4 of the way full. You can also use the measuring cup to pour and use a spoon to hold back as many of the bubbles as you can, though the baking syringe works best.

Step Five – Place in the fridge for 2 hours or until set. Sprinkle the tops of the shots with gold sanding sugar, place the lids on the top. Now you are ready for your party!

How long do jello shots last?

  • Jello shots last about 3-5 days in the fridge. Since we are using champagne for these jello shots, I think they don’t last as long. Use within 2 days for the best flavor.

Recipe FAQs and Variations

What size containers do I use for jello shots?

Two-ounce size jello shot containers work the best for size. You can find them at the grocery store near the solo red cups, or you can buy them in bulk at a restaurant supply store.

Can I use a different kind of wine?

Yes, you can make jello shots with any white wine, including prosecco! Choose your favorite flavor and make it your own.

I can’t find gold sanding sugar; what can I use instead?

Use yellow sanding sugar or white pearl sprinkles. You can even leave them out if you want, still a pretty jello shot.

Equipment needed:

  • 12 plastic ramekins cups with lids (2-ounce size)
  • 2 cup pourable measuring cups
  • Small Whisk
  • Injector or Baking Syringe

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups champagne
  • 1/3 cup simple syrup find this near the margarita mix at your grocer
  • .50 oz. unflavored gelatin (two .25-oz. packets)
  • gold sanding sugar I find this at Micheal's Craft Store

Instructions:

  • Place a 1/2 cup of champagne in the microwave-safe measuring cup and heat for 1 minute or until hot. Note that the microwave can make liquids hotter than boiling without actually boiling, so don't burn yourself.
  • Add the gelatin and whisk until no lumps remain. If lumps remain, remove them from the mixture.
  • Add the remaining champagne and simple syrup to the mixture and stir.
  • Line up your shot cups on a plate or moveable flat surface. You will be moving these into the fridge.
  • There will be a lot of foam at the top, to prevent getting that into the shots, use an injector or baking syringe, fill the shot cups to be about 3/4 of the way full. You can also use the measuring cup to pour and use a spoon to hold back as many of the bubbles as you can, though the baking syringe works best. DON'T OVERFILL or the lid will make a mess of them.
  • Place in the fridge for 2 hours or until set. Do not put the sanding sugar in before they’re solid. If you do, it will dissolve and turn the shots goldish yellow.
  • Sprinkle the tops of the shots with gold sanding sugar, place the lids on the top. Now you are ready for your party!

Recipe Notes:

Want a little more flavor and sweetness? Replace ½ cup of the wine with white grape juice, Sprite, or ginger ale.
